Why see Philadelphia Orchestra - Carmina Burana?
Hair Raising
No season is complete without a rousing performance of Carl Orff's lustful and triumphant Carmina Burana and its showstopping O Fortuna chorus. Conductor and Grammy winner (and perfumer!) Fabio Luisi conducts the Philadelphia Orchestra through this roof-raising piece, joined by the Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Boys Choir and Philadelphia Girls Choir, as well as soprano Audrey Luna, tenor Sunnyboy Dladla and baritone Sean Michael Plumb.
Originally derived from a series of Medieval poems, Carmina Burana has become one of the most exhilarating live experiences to be found in concert halls across the world and as one not to be missed whenever it's performed. Also on the program is Mozart's 25th Piano Concerto, featuring the talents of renowned guest pianist Emanuel Ax.
